ABOUT

On Tuesday, March 26th, beginning at 5:30 p.m., The Venue Fine Art & Gifts will host a poetry reading and book signing by Andrew Hubbard.

Andy was born and raised in a small fishing village on the coast of Maine. He graduated from Dartmouth College, receiving awards in creative writing and psychology, and a degree in English. He completed his formal education at Columbia University, receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing. For most of his career, he worked as the Director of Training for a number of major financial institutions. He is a well-known speaker on the topic of corporate training, and has authored three books and dozens of articles on the subject. A man of many interests, he is a former martial artist and competitive weight-lifter, a casual student of cooking and wine, a gemologist, a collector of edged weapons, a licensed handgun instructor, and an avid outdoor photographer. Having raised three children, Andy currently lives in Brown County, Indiana, with his wife, two Siberian Huskies, and a cat.

After devoting his earlier life to the pursuits described above, Andy is now free to pursue his true lifelong passion, writing poetry. In a relatively short period of time he has published no less than five books, and by this writing perhaps even more. Andy was invited to participate in last years Ekphrasis at The Venue, and his strong showing has lead to an ongoing association.

No indiscriminate fan of contemporary American poetry, Andy's current favorite poet is Robert Frost. When you read and hear his poetry, you will understand why. Andy will read selected poems from his soon to be published new book, Hit a Snag.

Andy Hubbard has quickly become a major contributor to Bloomingtons robust poetry community. Join us to see why.
