ABOUT

Small-town California teen Marty McFly is thrown back into the 1950s when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend, Doc Brown, goes awry. Traveling through time in a modified DeLorean car, Marty encounters young versions of his parents and must make sure that they fall in love, or he’ll cease to exist. Even more dauntingly, Marty has to return to his own time and save the life of Doc Brown. Directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale, this movie stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and that iconic car. Back to the Future was the highest-grossing film of 1985. It won the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation, the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Film, and the Academy Award for Best Sound Effects Editing. In 2007, the Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry, and in June 2008 the American Film Institute’s special AFI’s 10 Top 10 designated it the 10th-best science fiction film.
