ABOUT

Phantasmagoric Fruits features light fixtures created by Eskenazi School Assistant Professor, Justin Bailey at the Gayle Karch cook center in maxwell hall. This immersive exhibit explores lamps as objects of utility but also spatial adornment, creating a fantastical science fiction scene with expanding, growing and glowing light forms that find themselves somewhere between botanic and sputnik, disco and digital.

Justin Bailey is a furniture and lighting designer & Assistant Professor of foundations (Creative Core) in Indiana University Bloomington’s Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture and Design. Justin received an MFA in 3D Design from the University of Iowa (2016) and a BFA in Sculpture from Webster University (2012). Justin received a MetropolisLikes award in 2017, and a 2018 LIT Lighting Design Award. He was named by Azure Magazine as one of Toronto Design Week’s Top 5 Emerging Talents in 2018. Through design Justin explores the story a surface can tell through material, form, function, technology and tactility.
