Other screenings in the series include: January 25th: The Birds February 22nd: Vertigo March 8th: Psycho Based on the short story “It Had to be Murder” by detective novelist Cornell Woolrich, Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 film follows L.B. “Jeff” Jefferies, a professional photographer temporarily confined to a wheelchair, as he watches the daily goings-on of his Greenwich Village neighbors and begins to suspect murder. Rear Window was nominated for four Academy Awards: Best Director, Alfred Hitchcock; Best Adapted Screenplay, John Michael Hayes; Best Cinematography – Color, Robert Burks; and Best Sound Mixing, Loren L. Ryder. The film was also nominated for the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival. In 1997, the film was selected by the National Film Preservation Board to be added to the United States National Film Registry. Doors will open at 7pm for this general admission event.
