For the entire month of November, The Venue Fine Art & Gifts is pleased to host and feature the Paintings of Jody Hemphill Smith, a leading artist in the Midwest and co-owner and co-curator of The Castle Gallery of Fort Wayne, a leading art Gallery in the Mid-west.
Jody has had, and continues to have a long and distinguished career as art educator, art dealer, and producing artist. As educator Jody taught art at the elementary, high school and college levels for 17 years. She was a painting professor at Delgado University, in New Orleans. In 1980, Jody Hemphill Smith became the first chairwoman of the art department at Valparaiso University. She holds a Masters in Art Education Degree from Indiana University.
As art dealer, Jody co-founded and has operated The Castle Gallery in Fort Wayne, for over 24 years. A premier gallery, The Castle shows, and has shown many of Indiana’s and the nation’s most prominent artists. Lodged in its magnificent building in Fort Wayne, The Castle Gallery is itself a work of Jody’s art.
As a producing artist, Jody is known for her passionate florals and
brilliant landscapes which reflect her love of nature and all its
colorful glory. Her style is distinctive and bold. Her color palette is
brilliant, and her paintings are dynamic. Jody is a master of capturing
nature’s beauty on canvas. You can become a proud owner of one of her
masterpieces.
