A total solar eclipse is coming to Bloomington! In 1919 the bending of star light was detected during an eclipse. This made Einstein famous and confirmed his prediction that the sun’s gravity bends light. A century later in 2015 we have observed another prediction of Einstein. He suggested there could be minute oscillations of space and time called gravitational waves. IU Professor of Physics Charles Horowitz will tell this story in a lecture open to the public.
