On Friday, October 19th, at 6:00p.m., The
Venue will host a reception for the showing and sale of surrealistic
paintings by Ray Perigo and metal sculptures by Upbeat Art.
To circle back, Surrealism began in the 1920's and represented an
artistic break with reality, and unleashing or the subconscious, using
realistic techniques but combining familiar objects in ways that they
never occur in nature. Homage to a non-rational world. It's primary
proponents were Breton, Dali, Ernst and Magritte.
You will not find melted clocks in Ray Perigo's paintings, but you will find vividly colored oils with floating objects and geometrical islands. In Upbeat Art, the work of The Fulcher's, you will find metal flowers, growing out of rock. These objects de arte prove that artistic creativity can never truly be contained, not even by mother nature.
