The Soul Kitchen, WFIU Public Radio’s Friday afternoon and Saturday evening music program, will mark its 10th anniversary on the air this month. To celebrate, WFIU is hosting a 10th anniversary dance party on Friday, January 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Harmony School in Bloomington (909 E. 2nd St.). This all-ages event will be deejayed by The Soul Kitchen host William Morris and will feature a mix of sweet soul, funky grooves, and plenty of rhythm. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in a dance class taught by Dr. Charles Sykes, retired executive director and current historian for the African American Arts Institute at Indiana University. Light refreshments will be provided.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. RSVP at bit.ly/soulkitchen10.
