ABOUT

The ideas of modernism were introduced in Great Britain by the Vorticists—a short-lived association of artists and writers that published the journal Blast. Among the predominant followers of this new style were the printmakers associated with the Grosvenor School of Modern Art. This installation features works by Edward Wadsworth, Christopher Nevinson, Sybil Andrews, and Lili Tschudi. The Vorticists’ subject matter not only reveals an inherent optimism in the power of technology, but in the collective strength and dynamic energy of the worker as well.
