America's Role in the World Conference The Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies’ America’s Role in the World (ARW) is a nonpartisan event which convenes diplomats, journalists, politicians, and scholars to offer expert insight on critical global affairs topics. ARW has a national following and attracts leading global voices to the American heartland.

During the April 9-10, 2026 ARW we are pleased to feature Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield.

We have been honored to host a long list of prominent speakers including John Kerry, Robert Gates, Samantha Power, Jake Sullivan, Yo Yo Ma, Wai Wai Nu, Ukrainian human rights lawyer Oleksandra Matviichuk, and Action Against Hunger USA Chief Executive Officer Charles E. Owubah.
