On January 15th at 11:00 am the Lake Lemon Conservancy District will hold its inaugural “Lemon Drop” Polar Plunge on the beach at Riddle Point Park. Lake Lemon is inviting the public to brave the frigid waters to help raise money for ongoing maintenance at the lake, as well as to support Boys & Girls Club of Bloomington who utilize the lake for Camp Rock.
Ross Carlson, Operations Supervisor at the District, said this will be a great event for those who normally enjoy the lake during the summer season to see a different side of the lake. “This past summer we welcomed over 7,000 carloads of beach goers and wanted to give folks the opportunity to experience the lake in the dead of winter,” Ross said.
Lake Lemon will have warming fires and hot chocolate in their shelter house for participants to recuperate after taking the plunge. A donation of $10 is suggested, and those donating over $35 will receive a commemorative embroidered beanie.
