ABOUT

Engage yourself in a listening room experience live at Buskirk-Chumley Theater. This program invites the community to appreciate diverse sounds and expressions of Bloomington’s talented creatives and artists.

$1 from each “Live at Buskirk-Chumley Theater” ticket sale will benefit a local nonprofit or cause. Proceeds from November’s show will be donated to Beacon, Inc., a solutions-based antipoverty organization, dedicated to aiding and empowering people experiencing extreme poverty, especially hunger and homelessness. They provide daytime and overnight shelter, hunger relief, housing, casework, life essentials, and more to hundreds of people each day and thousands each year. As the largest nonprofit housing provider in Monroe County, they are proud to help people in poverty not only survive but thrive. Learn more about Beacon, Inc. at beaconinc.org.

Six Foot Blonde means what they say in every song and will dance with you to every word. The six-piece sprung out of their local midwestern scene with enough excitement on stage to draw crowds across the country in under three years. Frontwoman Julia Rusyniak’s voice and lyrics resemble a modern pop artist, backdropped by indie-rock instrumentation. Featuring a fusion of slide guitar, synth, and three-part harmony, the pop band’s music has been described as lush and tight-knit in equal proportion, all while brimming with energy.

What began as a few one-off gigs in college quickly became a lifelong musical project, with the crew cutting their teeth at venues throughout the midwest upwards of 70 times a year. In 2024, the band finished their first national headlining tour, followed by the release of their debut album, “Ask Me How I Am.” Reflecting on experiences of love, loss, and nostalgia, Six Foot Blonde is geared up for their most exploratory and tight-knit period yet.

The Namby Pamby is composed of sisters McKenna and Emily Parks and their longtime friend Payton Knerr. All coming from musical backgrounds, quality time and a passion for their craft ultimately brought the Fort Wayne-based trio together late 2021 before coming to life in their January 2022 live debut. The sound of this feminine folk phenomenon is emotionally driven, and often defined by nuanced vocals, experimental chords, and jazz-like drumming that orbits arresting lyrics. A shared small town Indiana charm channels into each nearly tangible story, unionizing their individual musicianship and permitting a continuous expansion on their inimitable style.

After charming audiences with their captivating live performances, The Namby Pamby joined forces with all- analog producer Jason Davis at Off the Cuff Recording Studio. Lead singles Chardonnay and Poached Egg resonated with a wide audience of listeners who anticipated their full potential, ultimately satisfied by the group’s November 2022 debut of Marketplace. In all of its warm-hearted nature, the Parks sisters and Knerr have put together a record that is subtle, strikingly vulnerable, and wholly engaging.
