In honor of LGBTQ+ History Month, the LGBTQ+ Culture Center and the Speaking of Excellence series are hosting “A Conversation with Byron Perkins.” Nalini Krishnan, President of the Queer Student Union, will have a fireside chat with Byron and then we will have a Q&A session. Join us on October 7th.
Byron is a former collegiate football player, with professional athlete impact and engagement. A man of God, Byron is determined to use his platform to amplify good will throughout the world. Last year, Byron came out to the world and inspired millions. Byron recently appeared in front of millions on the Tamron Hall show; which garnered him thousands of responses of people lauding his courage. That same courage lead to him being honored last year by the Better Brothers of LA, Truth Awards, where he received the Courage Award. An event that featured the likes of Sheryl Lee Ralph, Raven Simone, Judge Greg Mathis, Jason Lee and more. As Byron grows forward, he is determined not to let his orientation define him, as he leans into his other passions and purpose. Whether it’s acting, comedy, music or public speaking, Byron is poised to elevate the conversations that are near and dear to him.
