The Grunwald Gallery of Art will present The Deep End: Golden Age Comic Books, an exhibit and symposium organized by Malcolm Mobutu Smith and the Grunwald Gallery. This collection of comic books amassed by Smith over the last 30 years focuses on known examples of over 400 covers that depict underwater imagery. This group comes from Smith’s otherwise large and comprehensive collection of comic books and related material of close to 20,000 items.
A gallery talk by Malcolm Mobutu Smith will take place at 12 PM on Friday, January 13th, with a panel discussion following at 5 PM. Participants in the panel discussion include IU faculty Malcolm Mobutu Smith and Andre Molotiu, artist Raphael Cornford, and designer Sarah Edmands Martin. A reception will follow from 6-8 PM.
